100 Good Wishes/Blessings Quilt

100 Good Wishes Quilt

Dear Family & Friends,
I am in the process of making, what some in China call Bai Jia Bei, meaning: a blanket united by 100 families. It is also referred to as a "100 Good Wishes Quilt". This is a tradition where friends & family give fabric scraps from old clothing with a written wish for a new child. The thought is that good wishes & luck will surround the child when they are wrapped in the quilt & hopefully it will be handed down the generations.
I would like to make this more of a "prayer & blessing" quilt. We want our future child to know that she was loved & prayed for before arriving here & that she is still surrounded by love & prayers after she gets here. The "blessings" will be placed in a scrapbook for her to look at later. Swatches of fabric are also attached to the blessings so the fabric in the quilt can be matched up with the people who sent it.

Quilt Square:
100% cotton
8x8 square or 1/4 of a yard (prewashed)
Print that means something to you, your family or is chosen for the child.
Can also be a piece of used fabric that is meaningful. (Please explain on the wish card.)

Blessing or "Wish" Card:
a poem, prayer, Bible verse, lyrics, wish...
attach a swatch of the chosen fabric to the card
approx. 4"x6" - preferably acid free

Thank you for being a part of our family & for supporting our choice to adopt from China. We have a long wait ahead of us, but trust that all this is in God's time.

P.S. I will be posting pictures of quilt squares that come in. It will be fun to see the different fabrics!

I'd love to swap a square with you. Where can I send one?
